The American Board of Cosmetic Surgery also recommends that those wanting to undergo a plastic surgery procedure meet with the doctors in their shortlist. In the ABCS’ article they mentioned that patients should take note of their observations in the clinic, how they feel about the surgeon that they have met, and his answers to the questions raised.

“Important questions to ask your surgeon: (1) Am I a good candidate for my procedure of interest? If not, what is keeping me from being a candidate? (2) How many times have you performed this procedure? (3) What are the benefits? (4) What are the risks? (5) What board certification(s) do you hold? (6) Where will the surgery take place? (7) Is the surgical facility accredited? (8)  Do you have hospital privileges? If so, where?”
